Tokyo rain. In this extraordinary blur of colour, a defensive reaction sets in – everything becomes black and white. I want to talk to somebody. I want to be home.   2009

A nocturnal drive. Such is degree of concentration on the road that, like or not, imaginary characters and scenes appear before one’s eyes. Eyes and windows alike become misty.

Tsunami. The force of nature. Sometimes I try to imagine myself standing before the force of nature. It doesn’t bear thinking about.

Spring in Kundziņsala. I’m not sure whether that’s ground that’s already melted or snow covered with coal dust.   2010

    • 8

The madness of spring. All around, everything is in flight – poplar blossoms, dandelion fluff, willow pollen... Bumblebees are buzzing and happy birds are whistling. One’s eyes are ears are full.   2010

Magpies in the apple orchard. You need to be an observant viewer to spot them. The play between the black and white feathers and the snow covered branches of the apple trees does not lend itself to simple and easy discernment of familiar things.   2011

The last ice. Porous and dirty, only rarely does the sky light up in some watery.   2011

    • 12

The first ice. So clear and lucid. One layer has already frozen, but deep down something is still melting.   2011
